Rising American singer-songwriter Stephen Wilson Jr. is set to bring his unique blend of indie, grunge, and country to the UK for a headline tour this October, before continuing on to Europe. Tickets will be available for purchase starting Friday, June 14th, at 10 am local time. Fans can secure their tickets here.
Wilson expressed his excitement, saying, “The UK/EU has my heart & we are coming back this autumn for our first headlining tour. A dream that’s suddenly became a reality. My father has passed but his story is alive and well & being told all over the world. Can’t wait to see you all.” This tour marks a significant milestone for the self-proclaimed ‘Death Cab For Country’ artist, who will also make his TV debut on “Later… with Jools Holland” on Saturday, June 15th, performing his song ‘Year to Be Young 1994’ from his critically acclaimed debut album ‘søn of dad.'
Released exactly five years after his father's death ‘søn of dad' is a 22-song tribute to Stephen Wilson Sr. that has received widespread acclaim from major publications like Billboard, Rolling Stone, and American Songwriter. “If you're lucky enough to have lived, you're going to grieve something,” Wilson reflects. “It is the most human thing we have, and we grieve on a level that is unmatched.” He adds, “Writing and making this album has been very therapeutic for me to learn who I am and what my existence looks like after my father. Because life has to go on.”
The album's emotional centerpiece, ‘Father's Søn,' was named one of the “Best Country Songs of 2023 So Far” by Rolling Stone. Other standout tracks include ‘patches,' which led Country Music Pride to laud Wilson as “America's best living songwriter,” and ‘the devil,' which was featured in the final scene of Showtime's long-running series Billions. Additionally, the track ‘Holler from the Holler' and its impactful music video have made waves on the international film festival circuit, earning selections and awards across ten independent festivals globally.
Stephen Wilson Jr.'s upcoming headline tour follows his recent support for The Cadillac Three and a notable performance at the CMA Songwriters Series at The O2 during the C2C Festival in March. In February, he made his US television debut on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers with a raucous performance of his viral hit ‘Cuckoo’ and more recently performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's #LateShowMeMusic series.
