Matt Cooper releases confessional new single ‘Dancing with the Devil’

Genre-blending artist Matt Cooper has released his new single ‘Dancing with the Devil,' a sultry slow jam that explores the redemptive power of finding the right partner. Out now via QHMG and Quartz Hill Records, the track showcases Cooper’s ability to blend blues, country pop, and rock swagger into a modern sound that still feels rooted in classic soul.

Keeping the production stripped back and intimate, ‘Dancing with the Devil' is driven by bluesy guitar lines, steady backbeat drums and a warm Hammond-style organ. The sparse arrangement allows Cooper’s vocal delivery and the song’s emotional core to take centre stage, creating a late-night atmosphere that feels both confessional and hopeful.

Cooper says the song is deeply personal, inspired by how he met his fiancée. Before that relationship, he explains, he mistook unhealthy choices for happiness, only to realize that the right partner helped him leave those vices behind. Written alongside Ben Wagner, Michael Lotten and producer Brooks Huntley, the track playfully suggests that the right dancing partner can be the only salvation you need.

The release follows Cooper’s breakout debut single ‘Highs & Lows,' which has earned more than 11 million streams and debuted as the No. 1 Most Added Song at U.S. country radio on Mediabase. With a rapidly growing fan base that includes 1.7 million social media followers and 27 million TikTok likes, Cooper is continuing a strong upward trajectory. Recently signed to WME, he kicked off 2026 by opening a sold-out New Year’s Eve show for Jelly Roll in Las Vegas, setting the stage for another milestone year.
