The cost of living is through the roof in the UK (and many other part of the world) right now. With successive Governments making poor choices, and the current Labour Government determined to run the UK economy into the ground, it’s getting more and more costly to survive. With families opting to leave the heating off, and wrap up warm instead to save money, it’s no surprise that people are looking for cheaper and more energy efficient options when it comes to keeping warm in the winter.
Norwegian brand Mill is making a name for itself thanks to its range of affordable products that boast a sleek minimal design, and are proven to be energy efficient. I was fortunate enough to be sent the Mill Invisible WiFi 1200W to take for a test spin, and honestly I was pretty impressed. The Mill Invisible WiFi 1200W panel heater is surprisingly lightweight while at the same time feeling incredibly sturdy. The design is very minimal, allowing the device to blend into most walls and the control panel is concealed so you can’t see it from across the room.
The panel heater comes with screws and instructions so you can wall mount it, and then once you plug it in you’re ready to go. It should be stated that the panel heater can be operated using the control panel hidden on the top right corner, but for the best experience you need to download the free Mill app. Once downloaded, it took me around 10 minutes to set the panel heater up and connect it to the app (a large part of that was a necessary firmware update). For my test, I mounted the panel heater in my kitchen, which is a large open plan space, because I wanted to see what it was really capable of.

The first thing to note is that the panel heater is completely silent. I was really surprised as I expected there to be some noise but there was absolutely none. Using the app, I switched the temperature up to 25 degrees (you can set various preferred environments within the app), and left the kitchen with the door closed. I returned around 30 minutes later and the minute I walked through the door, I could feel the heat. For a small, and relatively inexpensive device, the Mill Invisible WiFi 1200W panel heater is pretty mighty.
There are some cool features to explore too. The ‘Open Window’ function stops the panel heater from heating when it detects a sudden temperature drop of more than 5 degrees Celsius within 15 minutes. It stays in this mode for an hour so it’s a nice safety feature if you don’t realise it’s on and you open a window or door. There’s a child lock, which can be enabled from the app, to stop kids from accidentally turning it on (or up) and the panel heater is pet safe too.
The only real downside I could find about the Mill Invisible WiFi 1200W is that it’s not quite as invisible as I would have liked. What I mean by that, is that in all the pictures it appears the heater hangs on the wall free from wires but that’s not the case. There is a plug attached to it, which needs to be plugged into a mains socket so unless you have a plug socket directly behind where you want to place it, you do have to put up having a wire showing. It’s not the end of the world, but I found in my house it was hard to put it anywhere where the wire wasn’t very obvious.
The Mill Invisible WiFi 1200W is a perfect choice for families who want to heat a room (or rooms) in their house, but keep the costs down. Saving up to 30% compared to traditional heaters (you can track the energy use in the app), it’s a smart choice and I was really impressed with how effective it was. The panel heater looks nice, it’s pretty cheap (currently £158) and the AI functionality means you don’t have to spend ages setting up temperature schedules, as the panel heater learns about its environment. I was sceptical before I tried it but I can say that I’m a convert!
