Runaway June are back with big news. The Gold-selling trio have officially announced their highly anticipated second album, ‘New Kind of Emotion,' which arrives September 19 via QHMG / Quartz Hill Records. Fans can pre-save and pre-add the 13-track collection now.
Known for their seamless blend of contemporary country-pop and traditional fiddle, mandolin, and pedal steel, Runaway June—Jennifer Wayne, Natalie Stovall, and Stevie Woodward—promise an empowering and uplifting record. “Even the sad songs are fun,” says Jennifer.
The trio co-wrote 11 of the album’s 13 tracks, with production handled by a roster of Nashville heavyweights including Kristian Bush of Sugarland, Ron Fair, Mickey Jack Cones, Stone Aielli, and Austin Moody.
“This album is authentically Runaway June,” Natalie explains. “It really spans a three-year period, showing our growth and different influences. It puts a stamp on that moment in time for us.”
Stevie adds, “We want listeners to feel that sisterhood, that girlhood—but also to know they’re not alone, no matter what they’re going through. If you just want to have fun, there are songs here for you. If you want to feel something, you’ll find that too.”
Among the highlights is the Latin-flavored focus track ‘Drink Champagne' inspired by Jennifer and Stevie’s heritage and the band’s backstage bubbly ritual. Other standouts include ‘Stars on the Ceiling,' a dreamy escape back to childhood; ‘Sad Girl,' a dance-ready anthem designed to turn bad days around and ‘Come Home to Me,' a heartfelt Irish-inspired blessing carried by Natalie’s fiddle.
Previously released tracks like ‘New Kind of Emotion,' ‘He Ain’t My Problem' and ‘To Be Yours' have already given fans a taste of what’s to come. Billboard hailed the title track as a “Must-Hear New Country Song,” while MusicRow named ‘He Ain’t My Problem' a “Disc of the Day,” praising the trio’s “feisty and fun” songwriting.
