Indiana-born, Nashville-based rising artist Stephen Wilson Jr. has announced the release of his new EP ‘Blankets' arriving August 29 via Big Loud Records. The four-track project finds Wilson Jr. reinterpreting iconic songs from some of his biggest influences, including Nirvana, Temple of the Dog, The Postal Service, and The Smashing Pumpkins.
To mark the announcement, Wilson Jr. has released his moving version of Nirvana’s ‘Something In The Way.' The song holds a special connection for the singer-songwriter. “I used to listen to this song 100 times a day,” Wilson Jr. shared. “There was ‘something in the way’ it was recorded. Kurt sang it laying down on his back, not an easy thing to do. It’s magic. There’s also something in the way that he transported this hillbilly kid from southern Indiana to Seattle, Washington.”
Blankets EP Track List:
- Something In The Way (Nirvana)
- Hunger Strike (Temple of the Dog)
- Clark Gable (The Postal Service)
- Tonight, Tonight (The Smashing Pumpkins)
Wilson Jr. also announced a headline show at Denver’s Mission Ballroom on April 18, 2026. The news follows his recent Red Rocks debut, where he opened for Eric Church, further solidifying his reputation as one of country and Americana’s most compelling new voices.
