Rising country artist Alexandra Kay has announced the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Second Wind,' set to drop on October 24. The project features previously released fan-favourites like ‘Feminine Energy,' ‘The Last' and ‘Cupid’s A Cowgirl' and has already stirred major excitement across her 8.6 million-strong social media following. Described by Pandora as her “lover-girl era,” the album weaves themes of heartbreak, hope, and healing into a deeply personal narrative.
Before the album’s release, Kay will perform at the Canadian Country Music Awards on September 13 alongside Dallas Smith, delivering their hit duet ‘How Do You Miss Me,' which currently sits in the top 10 on Canadian country radio. She’ll then hit the road for Second Wind: The Tour, a 30-date headlining run kicking off September 26 in Atlanta and including stops in Nashville, New Orleans, Anaheim, Las Vegas, and more. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 8 at 10 a.m. local time.
“This album reflects a new side of me,” Kay shared. “Over the past two years, I’ve done a lot of growing. These songs are about the version of myself that’s emerged from that growth. I can’t wait for fans to experience them live—especially the happier ones that I hope they’ll be screaming right back at me.”
Produced by Andrew DeRoberts, ‘Second Wind' marks Kay’s first album since signing with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. The singer co-wrote all but two tracks on the album, continuing her tradition of emotionally raw and honest songwriting that first resonated with fans on her independent debut, ‘All I’ve Ever Known.' That release debuted at No. 1 on iTunes and earned spots on multiple Billboard charts, with songs rooted in the wreckage of divorce and the resilience that followed.
Now in a new season, ‘Second Wind' is a musical revival. While heartbreak is still present, it no longer defines the story. The album offers a brighter, more empowered perspective—what Kay describes as a spark in the dark. Leading into the project is her upcoming single “Straight For The Heart,” set for release on August 8. The anthem embraces bold emotion, encouraging listeners to take the leap in love, even when the ending is uncertain.
In addition to her music, Kay recently launched her first coffee shop, The Coffee Girl, in her hometown of Waterloo, Illinois. The business pays homage to the nickname given to her after her viral “Coffee Covers” social media series, which helped catapult her into the spotlight. One of her standout performances—a cover of Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene' garnered over 60 million views and caught the attention of country icons like Randy Travis and Tim McGraw.
With a whirlwind year that’s already included a global headlining tour and performances with Brad Paisley, Alexandra Kay is poised to close 2025 with what could be her most powerful musical statement yet.
