Alexandra Kay shares new single ‘What He Does’ ahead of sophomore album

Billboard-charting singer-songwriter Alexandra Kay is keeping momentum high ahead of her sophomore album with the release of her new single, ‘What He Does.' The song, available now, is a soul-stirring ballad about the quiet power of selfless love and has already been hailed as one of the most moving tracks of her career.

Written with producer Andrew DeRoberts and songwriter Allison Veltz-Cruz, the track offers a stripped-back reflection carried by Kay’s timeless vocals and unflinching honesty. With over 8.7 million social media followers and recognition as a 2025 CMT Next Women of Country member, Kay has become known for her ability to craft stories that resonate deeply.

‘What He Does' is featured on her forthcoming album Second Wind, due October 24 via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. The new record follows a series of recent releases, including ‘Straight For The Heart,' ‘Feminine Energy,' ‘The Last' and ‘Cupid’s A Cowgirl,' each of which has further cemented her as one of country music’s fastest-rising voices. Kay recently took the stage at the Canadian Country Music Awards, joining Dallas Smith for a live performance of their single ‘How Do You Miss Me' which currently sits in the Top 5 at Canadian country radio. The appearance comes as Kay prepares to launch her Second Wind Tour on September 26 in Atlanta, a 30-date run that will take her across major U.S. cities including Nashville, Boston, New Orleans, Anaheim, and Las Vegas.

Her debut album, ‘All I’ve Ever Known,' hit number one on iTunes across all genres and country while landing inside the top 10 on multiple Billboard charts. Born out of personal heartbreak, that project introduced fans to Kay’s blend of vulnerable songwriting and heartfelt storytelling. With ‘Second Wind,' she shifts toward a sense of revival and renewal, offering songs that balance the sting of the past with the glow of new possibility.
