Get ready for an unforgettable theatrical thriller: ‘The Croft' is heading back to UK stages with a spine-tingling national tour running from May to July 2025. Starring screen and stage favourites Liza Goddard, Caroline Harker and Gray O’Brien, the production will bring Ali Milles’ critically acclaimed play to audiences across the country, with a stop at the Churchill Theatre Bromley from 3rd – 7th June 2025.
Presented by Original Theatre, Joshua Beaumont, and Huw Allen in association with Wiltshire Creative, ‘The Croft' draws inspiration from a true story set in the isolated Scottish Highlands. In a derelict crofter’s hut deep in the remote village of Coille Ghillie, two women arrive seeking a peaceful escape—but what they uncover is anything but. As past and present collide, long-buried secrets and supernatural forces stir, and the terrifying truth behind the Croft begins to emerge.
The cast features Liza Goddard (‘Doctor Who', ‘Bergerac') as Enid, Caroline Harker (‘House of Cards', ‘A Touch of Frost', ‘The Railway Children') as Suzanne, Gray O’Brien (‘Coronation Street', ‘Casualty') as David, Gracie Follows (‘Birdsong') as Laura, Russell Layton (‘ART') as Ronald and Simon Roberts (‘Witness for the Prosecution') as Tom. ‘The Croft' is directed by Alastair Whatley (‘Birdsong'), with Nadia Papachronopoulou as Associate Director and Philip Franks (‘Murder in the Dark') credited with original direction.
With a runtime of 2 hours and 5 minutes (including interval), ‘The Croft' promises an atmospheric and emotionally charged night at the theatre—perfect for fans of psychological thrillers and ghost stories alike.
This revival is part of Original Theatre’s 20th anniversary season, following acclaimed productions including ‘Birdsong', ‘ART', ‘Murder in the Dark', and Agatha Christie’s ‘The Mirror Crack’d'. A filmed version of ‘The Croft' was previously released on Original Online after the 2020 tour was cut short due to the pandemic.
