Bon Jovi is set to celebrate one of rock's most iconic albums with a special re-release of ‘Slippery When Wet.' The band’s third studio album, originally released on August 18, 1986, will return on February 28, 2025, in a variety of collectible formats, including exclusive vinyl, cassette, and a Digital Deluxe Edition.
Fans can look forward to a limited-edition liquid-filled vinyl (1,300 copies worldwide) and a picture disc (1,500 copies worldwide), alongside a standard vinyl and cassette (limited to 500 copies). The Digital Deluxe Edition and a 2CD Deluxe set will include the original album plus seven bonus tracks, including rare and unreleased material like an acoustic version of “Wanted Dead Or Alive” and live recordings from the band’s 1987 Slippery When Wet tour. Standout extras include fresh mixes of fan favourites like ‘Livin’ On A Prayer (Thank You Goodnight Remix)' and ‘Raise Your Hands (Extended Obie O’Brien Mix).'
The album, produced by GRAMMY® Award-winner Jay Joyce, defined a generation with timeless hits like ‘You Give Love A Bad Name,' ‘Livin’ On A Prayer' and ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive.' With over 12x platinum sales and 9.4 billion streams to date, Slippery When Wet remains Bon Jovi's best-selling record and was crowned the top-selling album of 1987 by Billboard. Its enduring impact earned recognition from Guitar World and Rolling Stone as one of the greatest hair metal albums of all time.
The re-release marks the start of a busy 2025 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Last year, the band celebrated another milestone when ‘Livin’ On A Prayer' achieved RIAA Diamond certification, following the album’s earlier Diamond status. The group also commemorated the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album with a digital Deluxe Edition and limited-edition ruby-colored vinyl.
