Southern alt-rock sensation Willy Cobb has just released his latest single ‘Boy Toy' now available via War Buddha and Warner Records. The track showcases Cobb's distinctive blend of country, rock, and punk, solidifying his reputation as one of the most dynamic new voices in music today. Think Nirvana jamming with Whiskey Myers and The Cadillac Three and you'd be somewhere close to the sound of this abrasive and distorted anthem.
‘Boy Toy' unfolds with a slow-burning rhythm, as Cobb's raw vocals drift in and out of focus. The song builds momentum with fuzzed-out power chords, culminating in an explosive chorus. In a moment of vulnerability, Cobb questions, “Why do we go through this every time? You call me only when it’s late at night. What could I say? How could I enjoy being your boy toy?” A blistering guitar solo amplifies the emotional intensity, reflecting the heartbreak at the song’s core.
The new release follows the success of Cobb’s recent EP ‘Country Punkin' which has been gaining attention on streaming platforms. Publications like Dig! and The Line of Best Fit have praised the EP, with the latter describing Cobb as “one of Nashville's newest boundary-pushing talents.” They noted the EP’s unique fusion of “ragged punk energy, fuzzed-out guitars, country grit, and a touch of southern swamp.”
Cobb’s previous single ‘Cigarette Smell' also received widespread acclaim, with Rolling Stone naming it one of “All the Songs You Need to Know This Week.”
Cobb has been hitting the road with major acts, recently completing European and UK tour dates with Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters and The Cadillac Three. He’s now back stateside, continuing to support The Cadillac Three on their North American tour.
