Jane Dunn has firmly established herself as one of the most-loved Internet bakers thanks to the huge success of her online blog “Jane’s Patisserie”. Dunn started the blog after completing her training at Ashburton Chef’s Academy and she’s gone on to amass millions of fans on social media. Her first book, “Jane’s Patisserie”, was released in 2021 and it became the fastest-selling baking book of all time. Since the release of that book, Dunn has enjoyed two more number one best-sellers with 2022’s “Jane’s Patisserie Celebrate!” and 2023’s “Jane’s Patisserie Everyday”.
Continuing to build on her incredible success, Dunn has just released her fourth book “Jane’s Patisserie Easy Favourites”. For this book Dunn has gone back to basics and compiled a collection of sweet and savoury recipes that are straightforward to make. You don’t need hundreds of ingredients or hours of your time, and with Dunn’s direction you’ll be creating knock-out fuss-free bakes in no time. As fans have come to expect, Dunn’s new book features a nice mix of recipes ensuring there’s something for everyone. Split into six chapters starting with ‘Cakes, Cupcakes & Muffins’ and ending with ‘Savoury Snacks & Sides”, the book really is packed with fantastic ideas.
After sharing a host of useful tips, Dunn jumps into the recipes with the mouth-watering ‘Cakes, Cupcakes & Muffins’ chapter. From Apple Crumble Cake through to good old-fashioned Chocolate Chip Muffins, Dunn has every base covered. Favourites in this chapter include School Cake (honestly, it’s so simple yet such a crowd-pleaser) and the Cookies and Cream Cake for Two, making sure you can make a tasty dessert and not have days’ worth of cake left to eat. The second chapter, ‘Cookies & Traybakes’, is full of recipes that are super quick to make and often a case of throwing all the ingredients into your mixer before baking. There are some really interesting twists here including Banana Bread Blondies and a No-Bake Millionaire’s Traybake. Dunn is a big fan of traybakes and no-bake recipes so you know you’re in good hands!
For ‘Desserts & Puddings’ Dunn offers up a mixture of fruity and sweet bakes. Bourbon Biscuit Cheesecake is an absolute winner as are the Chocolate Orange Cookie Dough Desserts. The jewel in the crown though is the Lemon Meringue Ice Cream, which is so moreish it won’t last long after you make it. In ‘Sweet Treats’ Dunn shares recipes for truffles and fudge, and gives you a life-saver of a quick bake with Microwave Brownies. This is the chapter that also contains the Brownie Batter Dip recipe, which quite frankly you should have on hand at all times.
For those looking for something savoury, the last two chapters are for you. ‘Savoury Meals’ will help you plan delicious meals for entertaining or to have on a week night. From One-Pan Pesto Chicken through to 15-minute Carbonara, Dunn really helps to highlight how you don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen to make a delicious and tasty meal. Frying Pan Pizzas will be a game-changer for those with kids and a lack of time! The final chapter, ‘Savoury Snacks & Sides’, is my favourite part of the book. Dunn shares her recipe for Dough Balls, makes you instantly salivate with her Halloumi Bacon Bites and shows you how to make your own Cheese Dip to accompany your Tortilla Chips. There’s also savoury muffins in here in case you need a meal on the go!
With “Jane’s Patisserie Easy Favourites’, Dunn has once again shown why she’s so loved by her fans. Her approach to baking is clear and straightforward, and she always makes sure that anyone can have a go at making her recipes. You don’t need to be a whizz in the kitchen to get great results, and if you’re looking to start your baking journey then this is the right book for you. I’ll be working my way through these recipes and crossing my fingers that another book will be on the way in 2025.
