Studiocanal has announced the UK Blu-ray premiere of the classic British musical comedy ‘The Young Ones', arriving alongside a new DVD edition on 29th June as part of its Vintage Classics collection.
Originally released in 1961, the film stars popular singer Cliff Richard and The Shadows in a feel-good story about a group of young performers fighting to save their local youth club from demolition. Directed by Sidney J. Furie, the film also features Robert Morley, Carole Gray, Richard O’Sullivan and Melvyn Hayes.
A major box office success on its original release, ‘The Young Ones' helped cement Cliff Richard’s status as a film star and includes the chart-topping title track, which became one of his signature hits.
The new release also includes a selection of special features, including a new interview with actor Melvyn Hayes reflecting on the making of the film, as well as behind-the-scenes footage with commentary from legendary stuntman Rocky Taylor discussing his first-ever screen job.
Featuring black-and-white cinematography by Douglas Slocombe, The Young Ones remains one of the defining British pop musicals of the early 1960s.
The Young Ones will be released on Blu-ray and DVD by Studiocanal on 29th June and is available to pre-order now.
