Peter Sellers' golden era of British comedy is being celebrated with a new Blu-ray collection from STUDIOCANAL, bringing together eight restored classics in one definitive box set. With his centenary falling last year, the time is ripe to celebrate and remember a unique British comedy talent.
Released under the Vintage Classics label on 17th August 2026, ‘The Peter Sellers Collection' spans one of the most celebrated periods of the actor's career, showcasing the versatility that made him one of Britain's greatest comic performers some years before his international success in ‘The Pink Panther' Blake Edwards film series and Stanley Kubrick's ‘Dr Strangelove'.
The eight-disc collection features newly restored editions of some of Sellers' best-loved films, including a brand-new 4K restoration of ‘The Smallest Show on Earth' (1957), available exclusively in the set. Also included are restored presentations of the Ealing masterpiece ‘The Ladykillers' (1955), the political satire ‘Carlton-Browne of the F.O.' (1959), the BAFTA-winning comedy ‘I'm All Right Jack' (1959), prison caper ‘Two-Way Stretch' (1960), Kingsley Amis adaptation ‘Only Two Can Play' (1962), crime spoof ‘The Wrong Arm of the Law' (1963) and the Boulting Brothers' acclaimed comedy ‘Heavens Above!' (1963).
Together, the films chart Peter Sellers' remarkable rise during the 1950s and early 1960s, highlighting his gift for disappearing into wildly different characters across satire, farce and black comedy. Alongside celebrated collaborators including Alec Guinness (‘Kind Hearts and Coronets'), Terry-Thomas (‘School for Scoundrels'), Richard Attenborough (‘Brighton Rock'), Bernard Cribbins (‘The Railway Children') and Margaret Rutherford (‘Blithe Spirit'), the collection also offers a snapshot of post-war British cinema at its creative peak.
In addition to the eight feature films, the release includes a newly produced 32-page collector's booklet providing a background to the films and exploring Sellers' enduring contribution to British comedy.
