Snow Patrol is back with a highly anticipated new album, ‘The Forest Is The Path', marking their first release in six years since 2018's ‘Wildness'. Scheduled for release on September 13th via Polydor Records, the album is produced by Fraser T Smith (known for his work with Adele, Dave, and Stormzy) alongside the band members themselves. Now a trio consisting of Gary Lightbody, Nathan Connolly, and Johnny McDaid, Snow Patrol also unveiled the album’s lead single, ‘The Beginning', and announced an extensive UK and Ireland Arena tour for 2025.
‘The Forest Is The Path' features twelve tracks co-written by Lightbody, Connolly, and McDaid, with contributions from Fraser T Smith, Will Reynolds, Roy Kerr, and Troy Van Leeuwen (of Queens of the Stone Age). The album artwork, featuring paintings by Gary Lightbody, reflects the introspective and reflective themes of the album.
The lead single, ‘The Beginning', was written during a trip to Somerset and captures a raw, soul-baring quality. “The first day we wrote The Beginning, start to finish,” shared Gary. Johnny added, “He did the vocal in one take, straight after writing the lyrics. So it has this mind-collapsing quality to it where you feel like you’re seeing into someone’s soul.”
Gary Lightbody elaborated on the album’s central theme: the idea of love from the distance of time. “I haven’t been in a relationship for a very long time, 10 years or more, so love from a distance to me meant the way a relationship sits in your memory from a distance of, say, 10 years. When you’re in love, you’re standing in the lobby of the Empire State Building. When you’ve broken up with that person, you’re out in the street. You can still see the building, but you’re not in there anymore. And when it’s 10 years later, now you’re standing in Brooklyn looking at the Manhattan skyline.”

To support the release, Snow Patrol will embark on an 8-date UK & Ireland Arena tour in February 2025, including a performance at Manchester's Co-op Live on February 22nd. Fans who pre-order ‘The Forest Is The Path' from the band's store will gain access to the tour pre-sale starting on Wednesday, June 5th at 10am.
