Willow Avalon steps into a bolder era with new ‘Cardinal Sin’ alongside Jason Isbell

Rising country artist Willow Avalon is continuing her breakout momentum with the announcement of her new album ‘Pink Pocket Pistol,' arriving June 26 via Atlantic Outpost and Assemble Sound — alongside the release of her striking new single ‘Cardinal Sin.'

The track arrives with added weight thanks to a collaboration with Jason Isbell, a six-time Grammy winner and one of Avalon’s longtime musical heroes. For Avalon, the duet is more than just a feature — it’s a full-circle moment.

“It’s one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written,” she shared. “Having Jason on it was icing on the cake. I’ve loved him forever — I’ve driven around for years harmonizing with his voice, thinking how insane it would be to sing with him. I’m still so honored that it happened.”

That sense of reverence translates into the track itself, which leans into a darker, more introspective tone while still showcasing Avalon’s sharp lyrical instincts and storytelling edge.

‘Cardinal Sin' offers an early glimpse into ‘Pink Pocket Pistol,' a project that signals a clear evolution in Avalon’s sound. While her debut ‘Southern Belle Raisin’ Hell' introduced her as a bold new voice, this next chapter pushes further — blending her signature wit and narrative style with deeper shades of mystery and mood.

“Pink Pocket Pistol is a mix of the lyricism and sassy storylines I’ve always written, but with more darkness and a ‘60s country feel,” Avalon explained. “We went in with a vision and came out a week later with it fully realised. Hearing it back exactly how I imagined it — that was everything.”

The album also includes recent single ‘Easy On The Eyes' and builds on the momentum of her critically acclaimed debut. That first project earned praise from outlets like Taste of Country and Whiskey Riff, the latter declaring Avalon “a star… with a long future ahead of her.”

Since then, Avalon has continued to establish herself as one of country music’s most compelling emerging artists. Following her debut performance at the Grand Ole Opry, she was named part of the Opry’s NextStage Class of 2026 — further solidifying her status as an artist to watch.

With ‘Cardinal Sin,' Willow Avalon doesn’t just preview a new album — she signals a shift. It’s a confident, layered step forward, pairing ambition with authenticity and setting the stage for what could be a defining release.
