Waylon Wyatt has released his latest track, ‘Smoke & Embers,' featuring Willow Avalon, via Music Soup/Darkroom Records. Alongside the song, the duo has also unveiled the official music video, bringing the haunting ballad to life.
The song explores the lingering echoes of past love and the struggle to move forward while holding on to what once was. Written and produced in just one day at New York City's legendary Electric Lady Studios, ‘Smoke & Embers' showcases Wyatt and Avalon's deep musical chemistry. The track's raw emotion is amplified by Wyatt’s steady, heartfelt vocals and Avalon’s ethereal harmonies, creating a sound that merges classic country storytelling with a modern edge.
Driven by acoustic guitar and piano, ‘Smoke & Embers' captures the emotional turmoil of two people trying to hold on to a relationship slipping away amidst the chaos of life on the road. The song’s title reflects its theme—love that has burned out, yet still smoulders beneath the surface.
Wyatt shared the story behind the song’s creation, explaining how it stemmed from a chance meeting with Avalon after she attended his New York show while supporting Dylan Gossett. He recalled a late-night writing session at Electric Lady Studios that resulted in ‘Smoke & Embers' being completed in just one day. Avalon echoed the sentiment, calling the song one of her favorite collaborations and highlighting the personal struggles they both drew from while writing it.
The single follows Wyatt’s recent release, ‘I'd Be Delighted' and builds on the momentum of his debut EP ‘Til The Sun Goes Down' which he produced, wrote, and recorded in his childhood home. He has also collaborated with Bayker Blankenship on songs like ‘Sunday Supper' and ‘Jailbreak' which has amassed over 52 million global streams. Recognised as a 2025 Artist to Watch, Wyatt is solidifying his place in the country music scene.
Currently on his sold-out Til The Sun Goes Down Tour, Wyatt is also set to support major acts like Wyatt Flores and Turnpike Troubadours throughout the year. He will make appearances at major festivals including Stagecoach and Rock The Park.
