Few artists in country and Americana can match the longevity or output of Jim Lauderdale, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee will release upcoming album ‘Country Super Hits Volume 2,' set for release on March 27, marking the 38th record of a career that stretches back to his 1991 major label debut.
Serving as a follow-up to his 2006 project of a similar name, the new album leans heavily into classic honky tonk traditions. Built around pedal steel, country piano and twang-heavy guitars, the record finds Lauderdale embracing the roots of his sound while continuing to deliver the kind of timeless storytelling that has defined his career. Known for his prolific approach, Lauderdale has long operated without the usual industry constraints, allowing him to write and record at his own pace.
Leading the release is the new single ‘Everybody’s Got A Problem,' a laid-back, reflective track that centres on a simple but universal idea. With its easy swing and warm harmonies, the song highlights Lauderdale’s ability to turn everyday struggles into something both relatable and reassuring. It’s a reminder of his strength as a songwriter—finding common ground in shared experience and delivering it with clarity and ease.
The new album arrives as Lauderdale prepares to return to the road, joining Emmylou Harris as a special guest on her UK and European farewell tour this May. The run includes stops in Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, London and Sunderland, along with a summer appearance at The Long Road Festival in Leicestershire.
With ‘Country Super Hits Volume 2,' Lauderdale continues to do what he’s always done—write, record and release music on his own terms. Decades into his career, that freedom is still fuelling a creative streak that shows little sign of fading.
