Just Jayne fire back with new song ‘Death & Taxes’ ahead of first overseas shows at C2C

All-female trio Just Jayne have kicked off 2026 with the release of their radiant new single ‘Death & Taxes,' a sharp-tongued country-pop anthem that pairs sugary three-part harmonies with unapologetic post-breakup bite. The Nashville-based group — comprised of Taylor Edwards, Jillian Steele and Rachel Wiggins — lean into wit and self-assurance on the track, delivering a knowing takedown of an all-too-predictable ex while sidestepping heartbreak in favour of sass.

Produced by Matt Geroux, ‘Death & Taxes' opens with a smirk, as the narrator confidently predicts her former flame’s next moves. “Don’t need a psychic / I got a feeling / You’re at the bar / Taking shots with Stephen,” they sing, before landing on a chorus that cleverly reframes lost love as one of life’s inevitabilities. With lines that liken an ex’s regret to the certainty of death and taxes, the trio transform romantic frustration into a sing-along-ready moment of bravado. Bright banjo riffs, lively mandolin lines and soulful pedal steel give the track a buoyant country backbone, while their lush harmonies keep it firmly rooted in the trio’s signature sound.

The release arrives at a milestone moment for Just Jayne, who are set to make their first trip overseas next month with a performance at C2C Festival in London — marking their international debut. The overseas appearance follows a run of U.S. dates and signals a new chapter for the fast-rising act as they take their harmony-driven country-pop beyond American shores.

Co-written by the trio alongside Sam Sumser and Sean Small, ‘Death & Taxes' builds on the momentum of recent releases including ‘Climate Change' further cementing Just Jayne as one of country’s most exciting new voices — now poised to bring their sharp songwriting and high-energy live show to a global audience.
