Lainey Wilson has earned her ninth number one at country radio with ‘Somewhere Over Laredo,' the lead single from her ‘Whirlwind (Deluxe)' album and a track she recently showcased during the 99th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The song is also at the heart of two of her three GRAMMY nominations this year, recognised for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, with her collaboration ‘Trailblazer' alongside Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. The milestone marks the 50th chart-topping single for her label, Broken Bow Records.
Wilson has also released a holiday EP, ‘Peace, Love, & Cowboys (Holiday Edition),' which includes collaborations such as ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!' with Bing Crosby. The project is available on 12-inch vinyl, 7-inch vinyl and CD, further expanding a year filled with major achievements. In November, she became the first solo female to host the CMA Awards since 1991, winning Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for ‘Whirlwind,' while delivering two standout performances during the broadcast.
Her growing presence in media continued with a cover feature in US Weekly’s Humankind Issue, spotlighting her Heart Like A Truck Fund, and her Whirlwind World Tour has seen her play sold-out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Wilson will continue touring globally through next year, including dates across Australia and New Zealand.
Following the summer release of the deluxe edition of ‘Whirlwind' via BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, fans gained five new tracks alongside the now-celebrated ‘Somewhere Over Laredo.' The song has drawn praise from major outlets including Rolling Stone, CBS Mornings and Billboard, which hailed it as one of her most powerful vocal showcases yet.
Wilson’s momentum shows no signs of slowing. Widely regarded as a leading voice for women in country music, she has earned multiple honoors this year, including four wins at the ACM Awards and two at the CMA Awards, and she continues expanding her brand with new fashion and boot collections. Alongside her 16 ACM Awards, 12 CMA Awards, GRAMMY win and membership in the Grand Ole Opry, Wilson has written or recorded nine number one hits and collaborated with artists ranging from Dolly Parton to Post Malone. She will also make her feature film acting debut next year in the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s ‘Reminders of Him,' following her earlier acting role in the hit series Yellowstone.
