Rock icons Tyketto announce new album ‘Closer to the Sun’

Hard-hitting melodic rockers Tyketto are set to return in 2026 with their sixth studio album ‘Closer To The Sun' out March 20 via Silver Lining Music. The release marks a powerful new chapter for the long-running, criminally underrated band originally formed in New York, delivering some of their strongest and most finely crafted anthems to date.

The album’s first single, ‘Higher Than High' is available now, accompanied by a new video directed and edited by Scott Wardell and filmed by Paul Hollingsworth at KK’s Steel Mill. The track bursts with swagger and uplift, showcasing the band’s belief in the transformative freedom of music. Founding vocalist Danny Vaughn drives that message home as he belts: “In the space you can learn to heal / There is music that helps you feel / Higher than high.”

“‘Higher Than High’ is, in my estimation, classic Tyketto,” says Vaughn. “Life’s difficulties are real, but hope — and especially music — gets us through. It’s the first single from what we think will be a real fan favorite. The song and the album say: ‘play me loudly and take me for a drive.’”

Across ‘Closer To The Sun,' the band dig deep into themes of love, loss and life’s hard-won joys. From the soaring, triumphant title track to the fist-pumping rocker ‘Hit Me Where It Hurts,' and the sweeping ballad ‘The Picture,' the album sees Tyketto confidently standing alongside influences like Whitesnake and Aerosmith, while remaining a fresh discovery for new ears.

Vaughn is joined by Harry Scott Elliott (guitar), Ged Rylands (keyboards), Chris Childs (bass; Thunder) and Johnny Dee (drums; Doro), a lineup that brings exceptional firepower to every track. Recording took place across multiple studios in the UK and Europe, including Flip Flop Studios and the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales.

To celebrate the release, Tyketto have already confirmed multiple 2026 live dates, beginning with Planet Rock’s Winter’s End festival in Porthcawl, Wales. A full UK tour follows in the spring, with additional European dates to be announced soon.
