Singer-songwriter Clever has released his latest single, ‘Dale Murphy,' now available on all streaming platforms. The track pays tribute to the Atlanta Braves legend while reflecting on Clever’s own childhood memories of playing baseball in his backyard and dreaming big.
Written alongside Paul Wrorck, Justin Wilson, and Matt Romagna, the song captures the spirit of chasing victories and holding onto youthful determination. “Dale Murphy is about remembering who I used to be, swinging for the fences,” Clever explained. “Not allowing love or life to make me forget that part of myself.”
A lifelong Braves fan, Clever cites Murphy’s versatility, leadership, and class as inspiration, noting how the player’s ability to master multiple positions mirrors his own approach to music. Known for blending country storytelling with hip-hop swagger, Clever continues to carve out a genre-crossing sound all his own.
In addition to the new single, Clever has announced the release of his upcoming full-length project, ‘Coyote,' arriving October 3. The album will combine his previous country tracks with brand-new material, expanding on the hybrid style that Rolling Stone has called one of the most intriguing in today’s country and hip-hop landscape.
During a recent appearance on Rolling Stone’s Nashville Now podcast, journalist Joe Hudak praised Clever’s approach, noting: “The way you sing on that is really a country vocal…this could easily be on the Big 98 here in Nashville, and it feels so natural.”
Clever’s career has already seen him collaborate with artists such as Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne. With ‘Dale Murphy' and his upcoming album, he continues to prove his range while honouring his roots.
