Heartland country-rock artist Logan Mize has teamed up with rising country talent Jenna Paulette for his latest single, ‘Trucks To Drive (with Jenna Paulette)' via Big Yellow Dog Music.
The nostalgic track captures the spirit of small-town summers—late-night parties, curfews broken and lessons learned the hard way. Written by Tony Lane, John Pierce and Randy Montana, who also produced the song, it blends classic country storytelling with heartfelt reflections on growing up and letting go.
For Mize, the song resonates on a personal level. “My son just turned 14, so I've been teaching him to drive over the past year, which has given me a handful of harrowing stories to tell his future kids,” he explained. “I thought I had written all the songs I needed for this project, but I couldn't stop listening to Randy Montana's demo of ‘Trucks To Drive,’ and it spoke directly to all the emotions I was feeling as a dad — of realizing I only have so much time until I send this kid off into the world on his own.”
Mize called on Paulette to join him on the track, making it a poignant duet. “Jenna Paulette is a new mom in a different phase of parenthood than I am, but to me, it still works, and I'm so thrilled to have her voice on it. I hope people listen past the title and realize the song isn't about trucks at all, really. It's about guiding this young person who is so excited to run full speed ahead into life and only being able to watch from the sidelines.”
Paulette echoed the sentiment, saying, “I've loved Logan's voice for a long time. He and Jill represent so many of the same things I care about, but in the farming world. They are raising a family, living and working in rural Kansas and making great country music. There is so much to respect and love about them—to team up with Logan felt so natural. I hope this song becomes an anthem for people everywhere raising boys on diesel and good manners.”
Fresh off a performance at Kansas’ Rock The Plains Festival, Mize will take his music overseas with his six-date “No Bad Days” tour in Germany, kicking off November 23 in Hamburg. Full tour details can be found at loganmize.com/tour.
