Country duo SmithField, known for their powerful harmonies and emotional storytelling, have released their most personal song to date. Titled ‘Take Me To Texas,' the new single serves as a touching tribute to their home state and the roots that shaped their journey from Waxahachie to national recognition.
The track captures the duo’s signature blend of contemporary country with heartfelt lyrics and rich harmonies. With soaring vocals and vivid imagery, ‘Take Me To Texas' feels like a full-circle moment for SmithField’s Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith, who describe the song as a long-awaited love letter to where it all began.
“We’ve tried to write a song about our home state for years but have never felt one was special enough to match how we feel about where we’re from until now,” said Fielder and Smith. “‘Take Me To Texas’ is a love letter to the roots that made SmithField. Although it’s filled with all of the nostalgia and heart that we have for Texas, it’s for anyone who is proud of where they’re from.”
Lyrics from the song drive that sentiment home with lines like:
“Don’t bury me in Tennessee
Lay me underneath blue skies and blue bonnets
On the edge of town, in a patch of ground
By a stone with my grandma’s name on it”
The release comes as the duo continues to build momentum with their debut album ‘Country With Heart (Part One),' which dropped earlier this year. The second instalment is expected later in 2025. In addition to new music, SmithField also recently launched their own coffee collaboration with Bongo Roasting Co. The “Coffee With Heart” blend is now available through their official website.
Formed in 2011 by childhood friends Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith, SmithField has steadily earned their place in modern country music with a loyal fanbase and growing industry attention. ‘Take Me To Texas' further cements their place as one of the genre’s standout duos, delivering music that’s as personal as it is universally relatable.
