Country artist and SiriusXM radio host Sunny Sweeney is set to release her upcoming album ‘Rhinestone Requiem' on August 1, 2025, through Aunt Daddy Records/Thirty Tigers. Known for her blend of East Texas grit and Nashville polish, Sweeney’s new project is described as a bold, unapologetic return to her roots—an album packed with resilience, heartbreak and honky-tonk healing.
The album’s first single, ‘Diamonds & Divorce Decrees,' is available now. The track pairs upbeat instrumentation with Sweeney’s signature wit and vulnerability, offering a wry take on life’s less glamorous moments.
“I was moving out of my house in Austin because the rent got too high,” Sweeney shared. “I called my mom and said, ‘Can I store some stuff at your house for a bit?’ I eventually told her, ‘All that’s in the safe is grandma’s diamonds and my divorce decrees.’ I immediately knew that line had to be a song.”
Co-produced by Sweeney and longtime guitarist Harley Husbands, ‘Rhinestone Requiem' was recorded at Cherry Ridge Studio in Texas. The album reflects Sweeney’s evolution as a songwriter while staying true to her honky-tonk roots. It blends traditional country sounds with a deeply personal lens, embracing both humor and heartbreak with equal measure.
With ten new tracks, the album explores themes of freedom, loss, and self-discovery, connecting with listeners through candid storytelling and emotional honesty.
