Marcus King Band returns with gritty new single ‘Honky Tonk Hell’

The Marcus King Band has unleashed a bold new track ‘Honky Tonk Hell,' marking the first release from their upcoming project via American Records/Republic Records. The song is available now on all major streaming platforms, with a lyric video also out for fans to dive into.

Driven by a thundering groove and King’s signature soul-drenched vocals, ‘Honky Tonk Hell' is more than just a barroom anthem. It's a deeply personal reflection on the ongoing battle with sobriety. “This song is an anthem for anyone out there like myself who have struggled with the permanence of sobriety — those who fear the thought they will never again howl at the moon,” King shared. “This song for me serves as a reminder to take it all one day at a time.”

Alongside the new release, the Marcus King Band has also announced the return of their beloved Family Reunion music festival. Now in its ninth year, the festival is set to take place for the first time in Charleston, South Carolina, on August 23 and 24. The weekend lineup includes performances by Jamey Johnson, Stephen Wilson Jr., Molly Tuttle, and of course, the Marcus King Band.

The remainder of 2024 is shaping up to be a milestone year for King. In addition to the festival, he will be hitting the road for a string of high-profile tour dates, joining forces with heavyweights like Chris Stapleton, Cody Johnson, and Eric Church. King is also set to appear at CMA Fest in Nashville on June 6, followed by a performance at Bonnaroo.

Raised in Greenville, South Carolina, and now based in Nashville, Marcus King has long been hailed as one of the most electrifying voices in modern blues and Americana. His critically acclaimed solo debut El Dorado (2020), produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album. He followed that with Young Blood (2022), which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Blues Albums chart, and Mood Swings (2023), a more introspective project produced by Rick Rubin.

With a growing reputation as a fearless artist who blends blues, soul, country, and rock with unfiltered honesty, Marcus King continues to push the boundaries of modern American music.
