Originally released on May 1, 2015 via Mercury Nashville, ‘Traveller' became a defining moment in modern country music. Produced by Dave Cobb and recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, the album received widespread critical acclaim and quickly resonated with fans and fellow artists alike.
The accolades poured in soon after its release, with ‘Traveller' winning Best Country Album at the 58th Grammy Awards, as well as Album of the Year honours at both the CMA and ACM Awards. Stapleton made history at the 2015 CMA Awards by becoming the first artist to win Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and New Artist of the Year all in the same year.
Following his breakout performance at that year’s CMAs, ‘Traveller' shot to the top of the Billboard 200, becoming the first album ever to re-enter the chart at No. 1. It held that position for two consecutive weeks. Now certified 7x Platinum by the RIAA in the U.S., the album has sold more than 11 million copies globally and has been streamed over 11 billion times. It has also spent over 500 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, a first for any country album.
In celebration of the anniversary, SiriusXM’s Chris Stapleton Radio (channel 63) is airing special programming throughout the day, including stories about the making of the album and continuous play of songs from the record.
The commemorative vinyl editions of ‘Traveller' will provide fans with a new way to experience the album that helped reshape the sound of country music and launched Stapleton’s extraordinary solo career. Pre-order links at the top of the page.
