The War and Treaty announce new album ‘Plus One’ out in February

Acclaimed husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty—described as “one of the most exciting live acts in American roots music” by the Los Angeles Times—have announced the release of their fourth full-length album ‘Plus One.' Set to drop on February 14 via Mercury Nashville, the album promises 18 tracks of hope, healing, and joy. Fans can pre-order Plus One here and listen to the lead single ‘Carried Away' streaming now.

A Message of Togetherness

For Michael and Tanya Trotter ‘Plus One' is a deeply personal and intentional project.

“We see this record as an open invitation to be a part of what we’re doing—it came from wanting to be the hope we believe people need right now, as well as the hope that we need for ourselves,” shares Tanya Trotter.

“One of our main intentions with this album is to inspire people to share themselves with others and open themselves up to the possibility of being loved,” adds Michael Trotter Jr.

Created in Music History

Mainly produced by Michael and recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama ‘Plus One' follows the duo’s GRAMMY-nominated 2023 album ‘Lover’s Game.' Their hit single ‘Blank Page' earned a nomination for Best American Roots Song, while The War and Treaty themselves were recognised in the prestigious Best New Artist category.

To craft their most ambitious album yet, the duo teamed up with their longtime live band and collaborated with celebrated producers like Jonathan Singleton (Luke Combs), John Shanks (Stevie Nicks), and Jesse Frasure (Jelly Roll). The result is a genre-blending masterpiece featuring gospel, bluegrass, country, soul, symphonic pop, and folk-rock influences.

Standout Tracks

‘Plus' One features a lineup of high-impact songs, including:

  • “Love Like Whiskey” – A heartfelt collaboration with Miranda Lambert about enduring love.
  • “Called You By Your Name” – A high-energy track inspired by Black gospel shout traditions.
  • “Drink From Me” – Featuring the legendary guitarist Billy Strings.
  • “Leads Me Home” – First performed on LIVE with Kelly and Mark.
  • “Stealing a Kiss” – Showcased on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
  • “Can I Get an Amen” – Delivered at the People’s Choice Country Awards.
  • “Carried Away” – Available now as the album’s lead single.

A Groundbreaking Year

With a GRAMMY nomination and performances on major platforms like Jimmy Kimmel Live! and the People’s Choice Country Awards, The War and Treaty are solidifying their place as trailblazers in the music world.
