Walter Presents is bringing Finnish crime drama ‘Freezing Embrace' to C4 Streaming in December.
The series is created by Veli-Pekka Hännienen and stars Mikko Leppilampi, Onni Parviainen, Antti Reini and Oona Airola. It is based on the popular Finnish ‘Hautalehto' book series by Christian Rönnbacka.
The first season is a psychological thriller with 8 episodes. The story is located in peaceful and snowy Porvoo, where an idyllic river flows through the town.
Chief Inspector Antti Hautalehto hires a young policeman, whose father has worked with him for over 20 years. Hautalehto finds himself between a rock and hard place when it turns out that the new policeman has serious mental problems, which he has managed to hide in all tests. At the same time, mysterious murders begin to take place. Almost every week a young man is found drowned by the river. Eventually, Hautalehto concludes that the new recruit is guilty of the murders. The new policeman is arrested and the murders come to an end.
Only the policeman’s father still believes in his son’s innocence. Hautalehto gives him a chance to prove his claims, soon becoming convinced of his innocence. To find out the truth Hautalehto has to bring to light a traumatic event from the past and relieve the false memories the father had planted into son’s mind. This leads Hautalehto down the tracks of the real killer.
