Ryan Hurd longs for an Irish goodbye on new song ‘This Party Sucks’

Award-winning singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd is keeping it real in his latest release, “This Party Sucks,” his first official track since signing with Big Machine Records. Co-written by Hurd, Brinley Addington, Ryan Beaver, and David Garcia, the song was inspired by Hurd’s experience of having to leave a rare conversation with Paul McCartney to attend a party filled with empty small talk. The track taps into the frustration of social gatherings that feel less than authentic, set to an irresistible, rock-tinged melody that captures Hurd’s sharp, relatable lyrics.

In the official music video, directed by Rachel Deeb, Hurd starts in formal attire at a swanky cocktail party but soon ditches the scene for a local dive bar. Trading in his suit for jeans, a t-shirt, and a beer, he delivers the “anti-party party anthem” on stage against a backdrop of cheap glitter and disco lights, showing that he’s just as comfortable under the glow of neon as he is in the spotlight.

Released just days after Hurd’s label signing announcement, ‘This Party Sucks' follows his independently released tracks ‘Midwest Rock & Roll' and ‘Go To Bed Sober,' with a full-length album expected from Big Machine Records in 2025.
