Sophie Ellis-Bextor has released new disco-pop track ‘Freedom of the Night', via her new label home Decca.
With the song Ellis-Bextor enters a new era and returns to her disco-pop roots. She has worked with Biff Stannard (Kylie, JADE) and Shura and collaborated with Chris Greatti (Willow Smith, The Dare) and David Wrench (Jamie XX, Hot Chip). Listen to ‘Freedom of the Night' below:
Ellis-Bextor says, “I have always been someone that needs music to help me recalibrate and ‘Freedom of the Night’ is all about that feeling. Music as a form of release and a little bit of hedonism. I’ve always needed that energy in my life, and I know I’m not alone. As the song says, sometimes you need to give in to what you want.”
The video for the song will arrive next Friday, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Over her career to date, Ellis-Bextor has scored 5 Top 10 albums and 8 Top 10 singles. The singer experienced a resurgence in popularity after her 2001 hit ‘Murder on the Dancefloor' was used in ‘Saltburn'.
Ellis-Bextor has recently toured sold-out headline shows across Europe and the US, supported Nile Rodgers, and appeared at festivals across the world, including performing with Peggy Gou during her set at Glastonbury, following her own set on the legendary Pyramid Stage in 2023.
Next up, Ellis-Bextor is supporting Take That in Australia in November and The Human League across the UK this December.
