Chris Housman has debuted the music video for his viral hit ‘Blueneck'.
Arriving just ahead of the US Election on 5th November, the ‘Blueneck' video features a cameo from Democratic Party nominee for U.S. Senate in Tennessee, Gloria Johnson. ‘Blueneck' is the title track from Housman's album, which was released earlier this year.
Written by Housman along with Nell Maynard and Tommy Kratzert, the song is a classic 90s country tinged, welcoming manifesto that proudly declares, “Y’all means all.”
Housman says of the music video, “This song truly changed my life and the response to it showed me that I CAN write my authentic experiences in country songs, despite the reputation of the genre. So it’s only fitting that the song that connected me to so many of y’all got a music video – and one that turned out better than I could have imagined!”
The video is directed by Ford Fairchild and produced by Rebecca Adler. It finds Housman driving through the rural American countryside in his electric car as he makes his way home from work where he finds there are more “Bluenecks” out there than one might think.
“Chris wrote a song about belonging and acceptance. He sings about loving your neighbor, no matter who they are, what they believe and who they love,” shares Gloria Johnson. “It’s a message I subscribe to and something I believe we can achieve here in Tennessee. I’m honored to have been asked to be in his video I’m proud to be a red state ‘Blueneck.'”
‘Blueneck' is the latest in a series of music videos from Housman and it follows ‘Laid Back', ‘High Hopes' and ‘Guilty As Sin'.
