‘Scream 7' will be arriving in cinemas on 27th February 2026 it has been confirmed.
The next instalment in the hit horror franchise will feature the return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. The star decided not to partake in 2023's ‘Scream VI‘ following a pay dispute with the film studio.
The new film will be directed by Kevin Williamson, who wrote the screenplays for ‘Scream', ‘Scream 2' and ‘Scream 4'. The screenplay for ‘Scream 7' has been written by Guy Busick who wrote 2022's ‘Scream‘ and last year's ‘Scream VI' with James Vanderbilt.
At the time of writing this article, no cast members have been confirmed other than Campbell. It is widely expected that Courteney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers after her character was still alive at the end of the sixth film. Rumours suggest that Patrick Dempsey will reprise his role of Mark Kincaid from ‘Scream 3', who is now Sidney's husband, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Rumours are also circulating that Hayden Panettiere is in talks for a TV spin-off centring on her character Kirby Reed. Making her series debut in ‘Scream 4', Panettiere became a fan favourite and reprised her role in ‘Scream VI', putting an end to the speculation over whether or not her character was alive.
Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega will not be returning to the franchise, despite the arcs of their characters being unresolved following ‘Scream VI'. Barrera was fired ahead of ‘Scream 7' for comments she made on social media regarding the Israel and Hamas war, while Ortega opted not to return due to her busy schedule. It's unclear if Mason Gooding or Jasmin Savoy Brown will return as twins Chad and Mindy Meeks.
