Ashley Ryan has released her latest single ‘Stunt Double', a high-energy track that combines powerful vocals and sass.
An exploration of wanting to live your life without experiencing the trouble that comes with it, ‘Stunt Double' sees Ryan drawing comparisons between a stunt double in a movie and wanting someone else to deal with the pain of heartbreak.
“The team and I were looking for our next single, and we thought it would be fun to take an outside song and make it my own – so we met with Lee Krabel from Smack Songs Publishing and listened to a couple pitches. The second I heard the first lyric for “Stunt Double,” I fell in love,” said Ryan of the song. “I was really pulled in by the sassy attitude of the song and the colorful lyrics. I love the idea of a heartbreak being compared to a stunt double in a movie. I wasn’t surprised to find some of my favorite songwriters – Shane McAnally, Trevor Rosen and Hillary Lindsey, were behind the song. It’s cleverly written and beautifully melodic, and It was such a fun experience to add my own flair to it.”
‘Stunt Double' is the follow-up to Ryan's July release ‘Pour Girl', which was co-written with Quinn Loggins, Larry McCoy, and Frank Stopak, and produced by McCoy. In January 2024, Ryan pulled together some fan favourites – along with a few new tunes – and released her debut EP, ‘Too Far Gone'.
The project included ‘Hush Little Baby', ‘Too Far Gone', and ‘One Tractor Mind', as well as electric guitar fueled up-tempo, ‘Bad For You'.
