Multi-award-winning Americana rock band Morganway is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated third studio album ‘Kill The Silence' set to drop on January 31, 2025. Pre-order links at the bottom of this article. This announcement follows a series of successful singles throughout 2024, each of which will be featured on the upcoming album.
Continuing their momentum, Morganway is set to release their next single, ‘Feels Like Letting Go' this Friday, August 23, just in time for their performances on the main stages at Towersey and The Long Road festivals.
‘Feels Like Letting Go' is described as a powerful anthem that encourages listeners to shed negativity and live fully in the moment. Vocalist SJ Mortimer reflected on the track's creation, saying, “This song came together in a whirlwind! The moment Kieran played the riff, I knew it was going to be a blast to write. It's about letting go of bad vibes, anxiety, stress—basically all of life’s bullshit—and just living in the moment.”
The track embodies the band’s dynamic spirit, with Mortimer revealing that the recording process was cathartic. “I love how the band’s cheeky spirit came out in this one. I really let loose on the vocals—it was pure therapy for me! After laying down the vocals, I literally collapsed on the floor, saying ‘oh my god’—which also tends to happen live, with Nicky and I ending up on the floor in exhaustion by the end of the song!”
‘Kill The Silence' marks a new chapter for Morganway, capturing the raw, electrifying energy they’re known for. Recorded live over four intense days at the iconic Foel Studios in the Welsh valleys, the album blends Americana, Country, Rock, and Soul, channeling the spirit of Woodstock while offering a fresh, contemporary sound.
Guitarist Kieran Morgan spoke about the recording process, saying, “We tracked 15 songs live together in the studio over four days, with probably four bottles of whiskey and almost no sleep. Recording this album was one of the best weeks of my life, and I’m immensely proud of it and the band.”
Lead vocalist SJ Mortimer added, “This truly feels like a new chapter for us as a band. We poured our souls, blood, sweat, and tears into this album. It’s our most honest and heartfelt work to date, and I’m incredibly proud of it. There’s magic in recording music the ‘old school' way—plugging in together and playing live, warts and all!”
The album isn’t just a collection of songs; it’s a statement of intent. The title track, inspired by the “No Music On A Dead Planet” movement, serves as a rallying cry for climate awareness, underscoring the band’s commitment to using their music as a force for change. Throughout ‘Kill The Silence' Morganway addresses themes relevant to independent musicians, including navigating the turbulent music industry and surviving in a social media-driven world.
Bassist and vocalist Callum Morgan emphasized the spontaneous nature of the recording sessions: “Inspired by artists like Bob Dylan and, more recently, Brandi Carlile, we wanted to record as they often do—spontaneously and less rehearsed. When you’re still discovering a song, that’s when the magic happens.”
Morganway’s journey leading up to this release has been remarkable. In 2024, the band played high-profile festival stages, including Belladrum in Scotland, and toured Germany with Belle and Sebastian. This October, Morganway will join Scarlet Rebels on a nationwide UK tour, bringing their electrifying live show to audiences across the country.
The band has garnered attention from industry legends, with BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and Planet Rock Radio both showcasing their music, highlighting their cross-genre appeal.
Fans can expect more singles from the album to be released before the end of 2024. Physical copies of ‘Kill The Silence' are now available for pre-order via Earache Records at Earache.com.
