Corey Kent announces new album ‘Black Bandana’ & drops heartfelt ‘Never Ready’

Corey Kent, the platinum-selling artist under Sony Music Nashville, has made an exciting announcement about his sophomore album, ‘Black Bandana,' set to release on September 6, 2024. Alongside this, he revealed his headlining Black Bandana Tour, set to hit over 25 cities. As a treat for fans, Kent has also dropped a heartfelt new track, ‘Never Ready,' which is available for listening and pre-saving the album.

Kent shared his thoughts on the forthcoming album, reflecting on the guiding virtues of his life: unwavering hope and relentless perseverance. “This album embodies those virtues,” Kent expressed. “We all have our battles to fight. When the going gets tough and you feel like waving the white flag, I hope this record inspires you to raise a black bandana instead.” His words resonate with the themes of resilience and determination that are central to his music.

Produced by Kent, Chris Farren, and Austin Goodloe, and featuring writing contributions from Joybeth Taylor and Lydia Vaughan, “Never Ready” is a poignant track about life’s most unexpected moments. From the joy of childbirth to the sorrow of losing a parent, the song captures emotions that can catch anyone off guard. “It’s about those moments in life that no matter how much you prepare for, you’re never ready for them,” Kent explained. The song’s honest lyrics and touching melody underscore its relatable theme of love and loss.

The past year has been transformative for Kent, marked by significant achievements including being named a CMT Listen Up Artist and joining The Opry Next Stage Class of 2023. His major label debut album, ‘Blacktop,' featuring the platinum-certified hit ‘Wild as Her,' has amassed over 750 million streams. Not one to rest, Kent is gearing up for his Black Bandana Tour, which will take him across the U.S. and U.K., starting September 21 in Paso Robles, California, and making stops in major cities like New York, Boston, Atlanta, Dublin, and London.

Drawing inspiration from icons like The Eagles and Keith Richards, Kent’s rock-infused country style and black bandana symbolise his refusal to give up. “For us, the black bandana has been what we’ve picked up in times when everyone thought we should wave a white flag to surrender,” Kent shared. As he prepares to hit the road, Kent looks forward to seeing fans wave their black bandanas in solidarity, continuing his journey as one of country music’s rising stars.
