Fanny Lumsden returns to the UK this summer

After a triumphant tour in the UK and Ireland this April, 2x ARIA and 9x Golden Guitar award-winning Australian singer-songwriter Fanny Lumsden and her band, The Prawn Stars, are set to return for a series of selected shows in July and August. This time, Lumsden is bringing her renowned ‘Country Halls Tour’ to the UK for the first time, with four special performances in village halls across Scotland.

Catch up with our recent interview with Fanny right here if you missed it earlier in the year.

The Country Halls Tour began humbly in 2012, with performances in three remote halls in the Riverina region of Australia. Since then, Fanny and her predominantly family-run team have hosted over 250 full-band, full-production shows in halls across Australia and New Zealand, raising funds for communities and creating unforgettable community nights out.

Alongside her band, The Prawn Stars, Fanny has “established herself as one of the genre's most esteemed performers” (The Australian). Following her UK debut at Glastonbury in 2023 and a successful headline tour in April 2024, Fanny and her band are excited to return for more shows this summer.

Fanny's single ‘When I Die,' from her award-winning album ‘Hey Dawn' has a unique backstory. Inspired by a bearded lumberjack named Brett, the song reflects on living authentically and staying true to oneself. Brett, who meticulously planned his wake, asked Fanny to perform at his funeral in exchange for a cow and two loads of wood. The song was written by Fanny while sitting around a campfire on the Nullarbor Plain in Australia.

Fanny Lumsden’s background is as diverse as her music. Raised on a remote sheep farm, she has toured regional Australia in a caravan, served as a volunteer firefighter, and worked as a documentary filmmaker. Her songs are deeply rooted in the landscapes and people of Australia, and her live shows are legendary for their storytelling and sense of place.

Her latest album ‘Hey Dawn' has received widespread acclaim and numerous awards, including Best Country Album at the 2023 ARIA Awards and Alt-Country Album of the Year at the CMAA Golden Guitar Awards 2024. The album debuted at number one on the ARIA Australian Album charts, reached the Top 10 of the global ARIA charts, and became the fourth highest-selling country album of 2023. It also features the country radio Top 10 and CMT Number 1 hit ‘Millionaire.'
