Fresh from an eight-week tour across Europe, Australian singer-songwriter Fanny Lumsden has released her brand-new single ‘Look At Me Now,' a reflective track that captures her journey through the highs and lows of the music industry. Recorded on the road with her live band The Prawn Stars, the song is both a personal love letter to her younger self and an acknowledgment of the struggles that shaped her career.
“This is a love letter to my younger self,” Lumsden said. “The amount of ‘no’s’ I experienced in this industry is wild, and every single one I am grateful for, because they made me the person and artist I am today. Not the wins, but all the losses, the struggles and the hard moments. I think it’s also a reminder that ‘success' can be an illusion, and really you can find success in every step along the way.”
She went on to describe the track as a celebration of resilience, authenticity, and the camaraderie of her touring band. “I wanted this song to feel real and hopeful and authentic to my live band who do all the miles with me and load the van and see the lows as well as the highs. Recording it was a crazy process of fitting in sessions whilst on the road. We are very grateful to Matt Fell for wielding his magic and helping us make it happen.”
The release follows an impressive run of live shows across Europe, including 23 headline dates, seven festivals, a sold-out Country Halls tour in Scotland, and a high-profile support slot with Paul Kelly. Lumsden capped off the summer by opening the main stage at The Long Road Festival in Leicestershire before flying straight home to join Kelly and Lucinda Williams on their arena tour of Australia.
Her Long Road Festival performance was widely praised in the UK press. We named her one of our Top Ten highlights of the weekend, writing, “It’s obvious she loves the UK audience… and that feeling seemed very much mutual.” Country In The UK described her set as “the most uplifting you will see all weekend,” while the BBC featured her performance during its live coverage of Scotland’s Belladrum Festival.
“Look At Me Now” is streaming now on all major platforms, with pre-save options available.
