‘Grease’ – full cast revealed for UK and Ireland tour

In a much-anticipated announcement, lead producer Colin Ingram has unveiled the cast for the upcoming UK and Ireland tour of the iconic musical ‘Grease’. Directed by Nikolai Foster and choreographed by the legendary Arlene Phillips, the production is set to ignite stages from Dublin to Sheffield, with additional performances added due to overwhelming demand.

Marley Fenton, known for his role in Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Old Friends’ at Gielgud Theatre, steps into the iconic leather jacket as Danny, while Hope Dawe, a Mountview graduate, takes on the role of the charming Sandy. The ensemble boasts a stellar lineup, featuring Rebecca Stenhouse as Rizzo, George Michaelides as Kenickie, Kieran Lynch as Doody, Lewis Day as Roger, Sario Solomon as Sonny, Alicia Belgarde as Frenchy, Emerald B as Jan, India Chadwick as Marty, Jayd’n Tyrone as Eugene, Phoebe Roberts as Patty Simcox, Dominique Planter as Miss Lynch, Joe Gash as Vince Fontaine and Teen Angel, Deena Kapadia as Cha Cha, and Adam Davidson as Johnny Casino.

The ensemble is completed by Zera Aitken, Dylan Gordon-Jones, Sergi Ibanez, Thomas Inge, Lauren Hampton, Imogen Malone, Ben Middleton, and Carly Miles. The 2024 tour is set to kick off at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, on April 12th, 2024. It will weave its way through various cities, concluding at the Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield, on November 16th.

‘Grease’, a timeless classic, has left an indelible mark on audiences, attracting over 500,000 people during its West End run at the Dominion Theatre, making it the theatre’s most successful summer production since ‘We Will Rock You.’ The musical received acclaim with four WhatsOnStage Award nominations, including Best Musical Revival and Best Choreography for Arlene Phillips.

Originally premiering in Chicago in 1971 before conquering Broadway in 1972, ‘Grease’ garnered seven Tony Award nominations, solidifying its place as one of the best musicals of all time. The show’s illustrious history includes notable actors such as Patrick Swayze, John Travolta, and Richard Gere, who understudied several roles before starring as Danny Zuko in the 1973 London premiere.

‘Grease’s cinematic adaptation in 1978, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, became the fourth highest-grossing live-action musical in history. The musical’s soundtrack boasts iconic hits like ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Greased Lightnin’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’, and ‘You’re The One That I Want’.

Colin Ingram, at the helm of InTheatre Productions, alongside Frankel/Viertel/Baruch/Routh Group, Playing Field, and Curve, presents this spectacular production of ‘Grease’. The musical promises to deliver a visual and auditory feast with designs by Colin Richmond, orchestrations and musical supervision by Sarah Travis, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Tom Marshall and Richard Brooker, and video and projection design by Douglas O’Connell, all under the expert guidance of casting director David Grindrod CDG.
