Alongside George Strait, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton is one of the most referenced Country music artist in other artists' songs. She's easily head-and-shoulders the most referenced female artist in Country music so we thought it would be fun to produce a playlist of the best songs that include a mention of her.
The reference to Dolly might be in the title, as it is in Madeline Edwards' superb, ‘Mama, Dolly & Jesus' song or it might just be a passing comment, a bridge or even a line in a chorus. The playlist is below – at nearly 90 minutes and 25 songs it's a real treat. The final two songs don't really mention Dolly, per se, by name but they deserve inclusion on the list!
