‘Neighbours’: how the shock death will impact on Ramsay Street

‘Neighbours’ finally revealed who the victim was in today’s episode after teasing a major character death the past couple of weeks.

If you want to avoid major spoilers for ‘Neighbours’, stop reading this article now.

Recently we posted an article speculating about who the major death might be and unfortunately we got it spot on. Yesterday’s (31st January) cliffhanger saw David (Takaya Honda) rugby tackle Eden (Costa D’Angelo) over the side of a steep drop to stop the villainous character beating the life out of his brother Leo (Tim Kano). With both David and Eden falling from a great height, it was clear that not both of them would make it out of the situation alive.

Today’s episode saw David injured but alive as he begged Aaron (Matt Wilson) and Leo to take Eden to the hospital for urgent treatment to stop internal bleeding. Insisting that he was fine, David put on a brave face but when Aaron and Leo returned to take him to the hospital, David had succumbed to his injuries. Karl (Alan Fletcher) confirmed that in the fall, David pierced his torso, which ultimately led to his untimely death.

A broken Aaron sat by the side of his dead husband as word made its way around Ramsay Street. Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglu) rushed to locate Paul (Stefan Dennis), who was in bed with Chelsea (Viva Bianca), and she was the one who broke the news of David’s death. The shock death will have long-lasting repercussions on Ramsay Street and we speculate what might happen next.

Did Paul tip Eden off to mess with Krista?

A popular fan theory right now is that Paul is the person who told Eden where to find Krista (Majella Davis), in a bid to mess with her and drive her out of his family. If that’s true, his plan has hugely backfired and he endangered the lives of both of his sons. I feel like this could very well be the case as it wouldn’t be the first time that Paul’s meddling has led to total disaster. If Paul was behind Eden’s appearance, then we expect that to drive a wedge between Paul and Leo.

Could Krista be blamed for David’s death?

It’s fair to say that Eden and Krista are tied to one another given that she’s pregnant with his baby but will that tie cause her problems? After getting sober and creating a life for herself in Erinsborough, will Krista now find herself on the outskirts of her new friend group? Could Leo blame her for the death of his brother, and will Aaron and Nicolette (Hannah Monson) also place the blame squarely at her feet?

Paul and Terese will be driven back together

Terese’s decision to rush to Paul’s side certainly raised eyebrows with Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and she’s clearly very concerned about her former beau. The preview for the next episode saw Terese offering to be there for Paul, and it’s looking very likely that the former flames could be reunited in grief. With Terese and Toadie already on dodgy ground following Toadie’s interference in Mel’s (Lucinda Cowden) love life, could there be a marriage split on the cards?

Aaron will struggle to continue on with his life

The signs that David was about to killed off have been there for a while. His storyline since returning to Ramsay Street has seen him put his past demons behind him and come to terms with the actions that led him to lose his medical licence. Aaron and David had been making plans for the future, intending to buy their old house and have another child with Nicolette. David’s death is going to hit Aaron hard as he will now have to face life bringing up Isla with Nicolette, instead of David and Nicolette. David’s voice message explaining why he insisted Aaron and Leo saved Eden over him, broke our hearts and Aaron is going to have a hard time coming to terms with what David has done.

Will Eden have a bounty on his head?

There’s definitely room for a revenge storyline and it could be Aaron or Paul who lead the charge on getting rid of Eden once and for all. The more interesting path would be for Aaron to exact revenge as we’d all expect it from Paul. Or maybe we’ll never see Eden again and he’ll go back to prison (how exactly did he get out any way?)
