Hailing from a cattle and bison ranch in Medicine Hat, Alberta, MacKenzie Porter announces the upcoming release of her debut album, ‘Nobody’s Born With A Broken Heart,’ under Big Loud Records, set to release on April 26th.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the album, Porter shares, “Nobody’s born with a broken heart. We all start with the naivety and innocence of youth, but then life happens. These songs are those moments in my life – the circumstances and events that slowly chip away at your heart, making you this beautiful, imperfect, cracked mess.”
The album features four new tracks released now: ‘Easy To Miss,’ ‘Pay Me Back In Change,’ ‘Young At Heart,’ and the title track ‘Nobody’s Born With A Broken Heart.’ Each song offers honest lyrics and Porter’s magnetic vocals, showcasing her undeniable star power and a sound that seamlessly combines strength and vulnerability.
The up-tempo ‘Easy To Miss’ confronts the challenges of overcoming a breakup, accompanied by a powerful music video directed by Justin Clough, available for viewing today. The biographical title track, ‘Nobody’s Born With A Broken Heart’ takes listeners on Porter’s personal journey from innocence to resilience, recognising life’s equilibrium between pain and joy.
In the chilling solo write ‘Pay Me Back In Change’ Porter yearns for debts to be repaid in change rather than apologies, while ‘Young At Heart’ explores her desire to reclaim the bright-eyed, ambitious spirit she had before life’s challenges took their toll.
