Lil Nas X set out to cause a stir with his new single ‘J Christ’ and judging from the reaction on social media he’s achieved his aim.
Following the announcement that he was releasing the new song, along with the unveiling of artwork that saw the rapper posing as Jesus on a cross, the video has arrived for ‘J Christ’. The video moves between heaven and hell, and gives Lil Nas X the opportunity to sport a number of different looks.
The clip was directed by the rapper and he also wrote the story for the visual. After an inner battle plays out, he claims victory over evil and chooses his path forward, the path of faith, and sails through a flooded rapture. The visual was shot in Mexico City and produced by SixTwentySix with production service from Habitant Productions, with visual effects by Mathematic.
‘J Christ’ was written by by Lil Nas X a.k.a. Montero Hill, Omer Fedi, Mike Levy (Gesaffelstein), and Blake Slatkin, with production by Fedi, Gesaffelstein, and Lil Nas X.
