‘The Traitors’ returns and unveils the first three traitors

A riveting inaugural episode of ‘The Traitors’ unfolded with anticipation as 22 contestants embarked on a steam train journey, forging connections and forming initial impressions before reaching the notorious Scottish Castle.

Host Claudia Winkleman orchestrated a dramatic turn of events, convening the contestants in the drawing room to inquire if they were willing to assume the role of a Traitor. Subsequently, at a round table, blindfolded participants sat in silence as Claudia discreetly selected Paul (Business Manager), Harry (British Army Engineer), and Ash (Events Coordinator) as the chosen Traitors.

Claudia assured the audience that no murders would transpire that night, teasing that the Traitors’ selection was not yet “quite complete.” The suspense intensified as the Traitors convened in the turret, deciding on the final member they would recruit from the Faithful before the “killing spree” commenced.

In a secretive meeting, Claudia informed the new Traitor, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, speculating who harbored a hidden agenda. Meanwhile, the Faithfuls speculated on the potential Traitor among them during breakfast, unaware of the unfolding drama.

The episode reached a climax as the players arrived at a Loch for their first mission, involving rearranging puzzle pieces in the water to construct a massive beacon. Claudia unveiled the twist that hidden shields, once collected, could protect players from murder that evening, though not banishment. The players successfully completed the mission, adding Ā£15,000 to the prize pot.

Kyra, Jaz, and Harry secured shields, safeguarding them from potential murder. However, a cliffhanger ending left viewers eagerly awaiting the next episode, promising the revelation of the fourth Traitor. ‘The Traitors’ has truly set the stage for an enthralling season of mystery and suspense.

The Traitors’ continues on BBC One on Thursday 4thĀ January at 9pm.Ā You can watch the first three episodes on BBC iPlayer now.Ā
