Listen as Michael Ray releases powerful new ballad ‘We Should Get a Drink a Sometime’

As Michael Ray’s current single, ‘Spirits and Demons,’ featuring Meghan Patrick, continues its ascent on country radio charts, the multi-Platinum hitmaker surprises fans just in time for the holidays with a new release titled ‘We Should Get A Drink Sometime.’ This song, capturing the yearning to reconnect with old friends or flames during the holiday season, is now available for pre-save ahead of its arrival on December 8.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Ray shares, “I typically end up cutting more songs than I need when I’m in the studio, and sadly that means there are a few that never get to see the light of day. But this song has always been special to me, and it felt like the right time to put it out there. This one is for those of you traveling home for the holidays and reconnecting with those people in your life that you’ve lost touch with, whether you reach out or run into someone you didn’t expect to see.”

Penned by renowned songwriters Thomas Rhett, Rhett Akins, Mike Busbee, and Josh Kerr, ‘We Should Get A Drink Sometime’ is a powerful ballad. Ray, known for conveying vulnerability through his delivery, showcases his voice against a backdrop of soulful piano accompaniment.

Following the premiere of the official music video for ‘Spirits and Demons’ with CMT and Paramount’s Time Square billboard, Ray is set to join CMT Hot 20 for their Video of the Year episode. Filmed on a U.S. Marine base in Okinawa, Japan, the episode is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, December 9, at 8 am CT.

Expressing his gratitude for connecting with service members and veterans, Ray, who comes from a family of first responders, shares, “Coming from a family full of first responders, veterans, and service members, it meant so much to me to be able to connect with those men and women, especially at this time of year. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to say thank you in person and hopefully bring along a little holiday cheer.”

Looking forward to 2024, the Florida native is back in the studio with CMA Album of the Year producer Michael Knox, working on expanding his latest project, Dive Bars & Broken Hearts.
