‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ Set for Release in February 2024

‘The Walking Dead’ was one of the longest-running series ever, and AMC didn’t want it to end after the main series concluded. The production company is keeping the franchise alive and well through various spinoffs, each focusing on some of the most popular characters from the original.

The latest spinoff is arguably the most eagerly anticipated of them all. It will focus on fan-favourite characters, Rick and Michonne, whose character arcs weren’t satisfactorily wrapped up in the main series.

Latest of Many Walking Dead Spinoffs

AMC has already released ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ and ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’, with both proving popular with fans. Now, the wait is almost over for the Rick and Michonne series, The Ones Who Live, which will drop in February 2024. Andrew Lincoln’s protagonist left the flagship series in season 9, and then Danai Gurira’s Michonne went on a mission to find him in the following season.

These plot threads were not resolved in ‘The Walking Dead’, with AMC initially planning to make movies about Rick. The studio changed this to a spinoff series set to take place in New Jersey. The new offering will feature Pollyanna McIntosh, who played Jadis in ‘The Walking Dead’, along with Terry O’Quinn and Lesley-Ann Brandt as new characters. According to reports, The Ones Who Live will be a limited series consisting of six episodes, so there’s a chance that it will appease fans by tying a neat ribbon around Rick and Michonne’s character arcs.

Walking Dead Franchise One of the Most Expansive in TV History

Although the modern model for television shows is to expand into spinoffs and other media, it’s hard to think of many that are as expansive and successful as ‘The Walking Dead’. Before the three latest spinoffs, the flagship show initially spawned ‘Fear the Walking Dead’ and ‘The Walking Dead: Our World’. It has also branched out into other media, with various games based on the post-apocalyptic series.

‘The Walking Dead’ from Telltale Games was one of the best ways to enjoy the show in a new way, as it followed different characters that would sometimes cross paths with those from the main series. Numerous slot games have helped put people in touch with the AMC offering, including the official Walking Dead slot game at 888casino. The site is listed as one of the top Canadian online casinos that pay out, with over 1,700 games and a star rating of 4.87.

With all these new ‘Walking Dead’ series emerging, there’s even more potential to expand the franchise in new ways. Indeed, many of the fresh titles could inspire their own games and spinoffs, which could keep the zombie universe alive for longer.

‘The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live’ is on its way, with the first episode dropping on the 25th of February next year. It will be great to see Lincoln back in his career-defining role, but the new series has an arduous task ahead in outdoing the other recent spinoffs.
