Shed Seven will celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2024 and today they’ve unveiled their euphoric new single ‘Talk of the Town’.
The song is taken from the band’s upcoming album ‘A Matter of Time’, released on 5th January 2024. From its anthemic hook to its call-and-response backing vocals through to its central spiralling guitar riff and propulsive rhythms, it packages everything that fans love about the band into a song that instantly takes its place amongst the bandās classic hits.
‘Talk of the Town’, and the band’s upcoming album, was produced by Youth (The Verve) and mixed by Cenzo Townshend (Florence + The Machine).
Front man Rick Witter says, āāTalk Of The Townā is another classic sounding Sheds song. Rip roaring guitars chime along with the solid rhythm section whilst the chorus is made for arenas and stadiums. Lyrically itās an anti-love song but with a comedic edge, especially with lines like, āIf I was cremated youād turn in your grave, if I stood still youād start a Mexican wave.ā The crux of the song is not really seeing eye to eye but still being the talk of the town. Itās got the makings of quickly becoming a fan favourite and a Shed Seven staple in future sets.ā
Fans can pre-order ‘A Matter of Time’ at the band’s official store, which offers a variety of physical products: a dolphin-coloured vinyl, signed CDs, two cassettes and a whole lot more. A new addition is the āDeep Cutsā CD EP which is included with all album bundles.
In addition to the sold-out 30th anniversary shows, Shed Seven will play three album release shows which all instantly sold-out. Each show will see them play two sets: āA Matter of Timeā in full for the only time and a set of hits and fan favourites. They will also play an extensive run of in-stores which mix stripped back performances, signing sessions and meet-and-greets. The majority of these are also sold-out, with limited tickets available for some dates.
