Renowned blues and Americana artist Elles Bailey drops the much-anticipated second single, ‘Lean on My Love,’ from her upcoming EP, ‘The Night Owl and the Lark,’ set to release on February 23, 2024.
Taking a departure from her usual rock-infused sound, Elles draws inspiration from iconic songwriters like Carole King, revealing a more soulful facet of her artistry while maintaining her unmistakable style. The single is a captivating blend of reflective and uplifting tones, designed to nourish the soul. Elles Bailey, celebrated for her award-winning work in Blues & Americana, continues to defy genre constraints, showcasing her versatility once again.
‘Lean on My Love’ is a sensational showcase of Elles’ vocal range, depth, and smoky richness, set against an alluring melody provided by the groove-infused talents of Redtenbacher’s Funkestra, a tight-knit studio band. The song’s lyrical richness takes center stage, complemented by backing vocals from Kim Keyes.
Elles shares the unique origin of the single, revealing, “During ‘lockdown season one,’ a writer from America, Mike Morgan, reached out to me with a bunch of lyrics he’d written. Intrigued, I sat down and composed the music and melody inspired by reading the lyrics. It was a really interesting experience to write this way.”
The studio band for the single includes Stefan Redtenbacher on bass, Tony Remy on guitar, Ross Stanley on Hammond and piano, Mike Sturgis on drums, and Kim Keyes on backing vocals.
