Nikita Kanda, a radio host and TV presenter, is set to grace the dance floor in the brand new series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Kanda is no stranger to the world of broadcasting. She is widely recognised as the current host of the BBC Asian Network’s Breakfast show, a role she seamlessly transitioned into after previously presenting the station’s Saturday afternoon show. Her impressive portfolio of interviews includes esteemed personalities such as Sandra Oh from ‘Killing Eve’, ‘Bridgerton’ actors Kate Sharma and Charithra Chandran, Marvel actress Awkwafina, and global pop sensation Nick Jonas.
Kanda’s broadcasting prowess led to her recently being nominated for the coveted Presenter of the Year award at the prestigious Asian Media Awards. Her versatility as a presenter is evident in her work on BBC One’s ‘The One Show’, where she has delivered insightful reports on a diverse range of topics. From exploring the rise of cashless businesses to shedding light on government support for female sports, Kanda has showcased her ability to tackle a wide array of subjects with finesse.
On joining the series Kanda said, “I can’t believe I’m going to be on ‘Strictly’. This is a dream come true. I’m still pinching myself. I don’t think it will properly sink in until I step onto the dancefloor. I can’t wait to get glammed up and get out there. Throw the glitter on me!”
The announcement of Kanda’s participation was unveiled during the morning broadcast of BBC Asian Network Breakfast with Nikita Kanda on Tuesday 8th August.
She joins the previously announced Amanda Abbington, Angela Rippon CBE, Layton Williams, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Eddie Kadi, Angela Scanlon, Zara McDermott and Adam Thomas.
