In honour of Dierks Bentley’s new album ‘Gravel and Gold’ coming out on Friday 24th February (we’ve got an advance and we can tell you it’s phenomenal), we thought it would be a good time to re-visit the rich and powerful back catalogue of this wonderful artist. Here are Dierks’ 10 best songs – before ‘Gravel and Gold’ has its say!
10. Burning Man
We saw both Dierks (CMAFest) and Brothers Osborne (UK tour) perform this song last year. What a live classic it is.
9. What the Hell Did I Say
Classic uptempo rocker from the ‘Black’ album. Do we ever get to know the answer to the question?
8. Home
Lovely ballad and message from eleven years ago and a very curly-haired Dierks!
7. 5-1-5-0
Great song and the video looks like a lot of fun, too! Nice reference to Ozzy Osborne’s ‘Crazy Train’ as well.
6. Woman, Amen
A little older and wiser but no less impactful. We love it when the song breaks out in the chorus!
5. Drunk on a Plane
The ultimate revenge song and the one that spawned the ‘take a photo of me in seat 7A’ craze too!
4. Am I the Only One
We wouldn’t turn down a night out with Dierks, let me tell you!
3. What Was I Thinkin’
If only TikTok had existed 13 years ago, this song would have spawned a ‘little white tank top’ craze we think!
2. Riser
The title track of Dierks’ best album to date, ‘Riser’ has that superb combination of meaning and melody that all Country artists strive for.
1.I Hold On
Trucks, guitars, faith, love, freedom and Dads – this impactful song deals with them all in an anthemic and fist-pumping way. Inspiring and full of melody, too.
