Rising Country star Kezia Gill has released a music video for her deeply personal new song Local Man’s Star.
The song was written about Gill’s father, who inspired her own journey into music. Watch the video below:
“Local Man’s Star is written about my Dad, who was a professional singer for nearly 50 years. He’s now retired due to ill health,” Gill explains.
“He was an absolute legend in his day, playing across Nottingham, Lincoln, Skegness and Mablethorpe. In a time with no social media, my Dad had an amazing following and was incredibly popular. He was just unfortunately never in the right place at the right time, and with four children, never managed to break out of the pub/club circuit. It was his full time job, but he was incredibly gifted. He had a voice that would rival Elvis, and that comes from everyone I meet that knew him.
It was my Dad that instilled my passion for music and performing. Inviting me to join him from a young age on stage, I knew there was never anything else I wanted to be, and much like Dad music has been my full time passion and career since I was 15.
This song is a thank you to Dad; For every time he invited me to share the stage with him. He ignited the fire that burns so brightly inside me today.”
